Summary
The Buen Ayre Biogas Thermoelectric Plant is located in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina. The project has an installed capacity of 12 MW and generates 86,500 MWh per year, amount enough to serve 15,000 households. The Buen Ayre Plant produces electricity from biogas generated by waste, and is among the three largest of its kind in South America. The facility recovers the biogas from the biggest landfill of Buenos Aires and uses a network of wells and pipelines to transport it and produce electricity. Buen Ayre is a self-powering plant, as it uses the biogas-generated electricity onsite, increasing efficiency and reducing the emissions of CO2. The plant has been designed, built, and operated by Benito Roggio Ambiental through its waste management subsidiary Tecsan.
